Over 29 years, the Grand View League has raised more than $17 million for the American Cancer Society, significantly advancing cancer research and patient services. This commitment has enabled the funding of multiple transformative research grants through our Grand View League Research Funding Initiative (GVL RFI) since its inception in 2016 has raised over $1.5 million, directly impacting the fight against cancer right here in the Greater Bay Area.
This year, the American Cancer Society continues to champion groundbreaking research, supporting over 25 local scientists and initiatives. However, this year to date, we have raised less than half of the necessary funds to sustain these vital projects and the essential patient support services and advocacy efforts for the year. The Grand View League is mission-critical in helping us close this funding gap. We are at a pivotal moment in a golden era of medical innovation, and your contribution can dramatically further our mission.
In an exciting shift to enhance our impact and engage our community more deeply, we’re transitioning from our traditional Design & Discovery luncheon to hosting intimate research gatherings in the homes of our members and donors this fall. These gatherings will provide a unique opportunity to directly connect with the work your generosity supports. We are finalizing this year’s gatherings and will be sharing dates soon. If you’re interested in hosting a future gathering, please let us know at [email protected].
Our 5th annual Drive for Discovery golf tournament took place on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Cinnabar Golf and raised more than $100,000 for the American Cancer Society.
This year, our goal is to fund transformational research projects in the Bay Area. With your continued support, we can achieve this and more.
As the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, discovery, and patient support, the American Cancer Society has made significant contributions to the fight against cancer over the last 110 years. We advocate for lifesaving policy changes, promote healthy lifestyles to help prevent cancer, and provide information, answers, and support to people in every community who have been touched by cancer. We also research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatment.
Yet, there is still work to be done – which is why we are so glad you have joined us tonight! The American Cancer Society continues to work tirelessly to fund research and provide support for all types of cancer. And thanks to your generous support, we work to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
ResearchFor more than 10 decades, the American Cancer Society has been dedicated to pursuing better outcomes for every cancer, every life. Today, more people are surviving cancer than ever before, but there is still work to be done. Join us, support us, and help us end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
